Villa new boy Holman confident he will get chance under Lambert July 13, 2012, 9:05 pm

Brett Holman is remaining calm despite the fact the manager that got him to Aston Villa is no longer at the helm.

The 28-year old Australian attacking midfielder signed a pre-contract with Villa in March when he was still at Dutch club AZ Alkmaar and Alex McLeish was still in charge at Villa Park.

Plenty has changed since then with Holman officially becoming a Villa player on July 1 and Paul Lambert replacing McLeish as manager of the West Midlands club but that doesn't mean the Socceroos ace is not confident about getting a fair chance under the former Norwich City boss.

"I signed for one manager and I'm now playing for another, but it hasn't really affected me at all," he told the Daily Star.

"I've spoken to the new manager and he's told me to give it everything. He's reassured me.

"Nobody has played for him, so we all start with a clean slate. I have got to show him what I can produce and make it hard for him. Hopefully I will play my way into the first team.

"Paul said, 'You're here, give it everything'.

"So, it was good to have a word with the new manager. He said I was part of his plans but that I have to show myself, otherwise he's not going to pick me."
