Segun Alebiosu's lone strike handed Erasmus Onu's men their first win in six consecutive games, ending their five-match losing streak this season.

And the defender insists they have put their ugly run behind them and eager to make the very best of their upcoming league games this season, starting against Rivers United.

“We are very happy to win again and prove we are not as bad as many think we are because we've lost five games in a row before we won against Nasarawa United,” Ikefe told Goal.

“It was an important win for us and also to the fans that have stood behind us. The victory has given us a lot of confidence. It was really a horrible experience losing that number of games. I honestly do not hope for such a bad form anymore and now we have put it behind us.

“It is not anybody's joy, especially we the players but our focus right now is to make sure we sustain our new winning form and mentality. It is very important that we continue to remain at the top of our game as individuals and team as well.

“Our next game is against Rivers United and I believe anything is possible. It is a difficult place to go and get points but I think we have what it takes to get results anywhere we go.

"We won our opening two games including the away win against Kwara United. I feel nothing should stop us from winning or remaining unbeaten in our next five matches. We just have to remain at our best in the upcoming games.”

Niger Tornadoes are 16th in the league standings with nine points from eight matches so far this season.
