Nasarawa Amazons, who emerged the champions of the 2016 /2017 Nigeria Women Premier League will tackle the 2017 Federation Cup winners Rivers Angels at the Agege Stadium.

NWFL Chairperson, Aisha Falode disclosed this at a press conference on Wednesday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, where she stressed the idea of launching the event.

She said: "I want to thank every member of the Nigeria Women Football League board, club administrators and stakeholders, vibrant men of the press and all the fans of women football in Nigeria for all your remarkable support all through 2016/17 season and even thank you for the support I stand sure to get in the journey ahead.

"We launched the Champions Shield to determine the champion of champions via a shield match and also create awareness for the 2018 Nigeria Women Football League season.

"The Lagos state government has shown their great hospitality by footing the expenses and taking care of the two participating teams. We are grateful," she added.

The two teams are expected to hit Lagos on March 1 followed by a 'Girls Got Game' mentorship for 1000 girls in Agege on Friday before the NWFL Congress on Saturday.
