FC Lorient announce two offers for Majeed Waris

French Ligue 1 side FC Lorient have received two offers for their striker Majeed Waris who joined the club from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor in 2015.

According to Ouest-France, Caen, who also play in Ligue 1, and Portuguese club FC Porto have tabled separated offers for the Ghana international.

Lorient and Caen were close to reaching an agreement over the 26-year-old’s signature a day ago, according to the media, until Porto emerged with a superior package.

It is unclear where the former Valenciennes man would ply his trade for the rest of the season, with talks between his representatives and the clubs still underway.

In 2015, while Waris was expected to arrive at the Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport near Paris to meet with officials from Stade Rennais, the Black Star made a volte face and travelled to Lorient to sign for Les Merlus, who proposed a better offer.

Waris has been a member of Ghana national team since 2012, enjoying 22 caps and scoring 4 goals, but did not make the final squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
