Ingwe are eagerly waiting for the government’s response to their Sh10 million budget request tabled to the Ministry of Sports, to enable them hoour the forthcoming continental assignments.

AFC Leopards chairman, Dan Mule, in an exclusive interview with Goal, revealed that the club had asked the government for support after SportPesa cancelled their contract with the club in protestation of the proposed 35 percent gambling tax bill.

“We went to the ministry through Football Kenya Federation and we are waiting for their response this week,” Mule told Goal.

“If the response is negative then we’ll have no option but to pull out of the games because we need Sh10 million for the two legs.”

Mule, however, denied rumours doing round on social media that Ingwe are currently in advanced talks with another betting company to come in as the new sponsor.

“As the chairman, I’ve not heard of anything like that,” he added.

The GOtv Shield champions will host Madagascar’s Fosa Juniors in the first leg of preliminary matches in February.
