SportPesa are yet to 'serve' Gor Mahia with contract termination letter, according to the club’s Secretary General, Ben Omondi.

While responding to questions from infuriated Gor Mahia fans after the withdrawal announcement on Tuesday,  Omondi said that he is yet to be notified of the much-publicized contract termination of all sponsorship deals by by the gaming company.

“As the Secretary-General, I have not received any letter from SportPesa indicating that the deal is terminated. But even so, the Executive Committee is not sleeping on the job. We are on top of things,” Omondi said in a post online.

SportPesa on Tuesday announced that they have withdrawn all sports sponsorship after the gaming giants lost case challenging the proposed 35-percent tax on betting and gaming income by the government.

But the latest revelation by Gor Mahia official now exposes what could be seen as a well orchestrated machination by the betting firms to beat the government into submission.

The SG for the second time reiterated that Kenneth Muguna’s reported move to Albania side, KF Tirana is being tangled by brokers and cartels within the club.

“I’ve said it time and again that Muguna’s deal was being spearheaded by cartels and brokers but it seems like they have failed in their quest,” added Omondi.

Gor Mahia have insisted that Muguna is still their player yet the former Western Stima midfielder is reported to have signed a Sh4 million deal with KF Tirana.
