Michael Olunga chopped as Caf release final five short-list

Kenyan International, Michael Olunga failed to make it to the final five of Caf African Player of the Year 2017 shortlist.

The Girona FC and Harambee Stars striker was among the big names that fell off the 30-man list having made the cut into the second round.

Chelsea forward and Nigerian international, Victor Moses and Liverpool's Sadio Mane headline the final five that also includes 'African Antelope', Borrusia Dortmund’s pacy forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon.

Others are Mane’s teammate, Mohamed Salah of Egypt and RB Leipzig’s central midfielder, Naby Keita from Guinea.

Keita is set to join Liverpool on July 1, 2018, after agreeing to a transfer a season in advance.

Salah scored Egypt’s goal that took them back to the World Cup taking his national team tally to five in the campaign. 

Nigerian, Moses was a pivotal figure in the Chelsea title-winning squad that grabbed the title from Manchester City last season.

Mane, on the other hand, boasts of four of Senegal’s nine goals in the World cup campaign besides having a stellar performance with the Reds in the English Premier League.
