After a thrilling week of international football, the Premier League returns with a modern classic as Liverpool host Manchester United.

It was at Anfield where last season United manager Jose Mourinho earned criticism for his defensive approach.

Will Mourinho be more expansive against a Liverpool side built to counter-attack? This time around he arrives on Merseyside with his side firing on all cylinders and hoping to earn what would be their seventh win in a row in all competitions.

And while Romelu Lukaku has taken much of the plaudits, Marcus Rashford could yet be the key with the England international having been involved in nine goals in his last 10 appearances.

United are in a straight shoot-out with rivals Pep Guardiola’s City right now, who lead the table by a single goal and will hope to extend that lead when they host Stoke.

The league leaders will be looking not only for all three points, but to make Premier League history by becoming only the second team ever to hit five goals or more in three straight home matches.

Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, meet Bournemouth at Wembley desperate to make ground on the top two.

Since the start of 2015-16, no Premier League club has earned more than the 170 points racked up by Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who are now desperate to add some silverware to what could be a club-defining era.

Reigning champions Chelsea are also in the hunt, and host a Crystal Palace side looking to avoid becoming the first English top-flight club to lose their opening eight matches since 1930-31.

Who will handle the pressure?
