ISL 2017: Delhi Dynamos sign Dutch winger Jeroen Lumu from Turkish side Samsunspor

Indian Super League (ISL) side Delhi Dynamos have completed the signing of 22-year old Dutch-born winger Jeroen Lumu from Turkish side Samsunspor. The young winger becomes the seventh foreign signing of the Delhi-based club.

Known for his blistering pace and his ability to create chances, Lumu’s versatility to play anywhere in the attack could make him a potent threat for the opposition defence. The highly rated Dutchman can slot in as a forward if needed.

Lumu began his professional career with Dutch outfit Willem II, where he made his debut at the age of 16. The winger soon went onto become the youngest goalscorer in the club’s history in the Dutch Eredivisie when he found the back of the net later that year.

Lumu’s impressive performances saw him earn a call-up from the Dutch National side for the UEFA U-17 European Championships in 2012, where he found the back of the net as Netherlands went onto lift the title.

His exploits soon saw him become a subject of widespread interest for major European powerhouses like Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus. Hull City and Derby took the highly-rated attacker on trial where he was involved in a few friendly matches.

The Breda born winger then completed his move to Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad where he won the Bulgarian League, the Bulgarian Cup and the Bulgarian Super Cup in the same season.

“I am absolutely delighted to have Lumu in the side. He is quick, skilful and has an eye for goal, everything that you need in a quality attacker. We have tracked him closely for some time now and I am confident that he can light up the ISL,” Miguel Angel Portugal, Head Coach of Delhi Dynamos said.

"I can't express my excitement enough to have Jeroen Lumu be a part of our club this year. He is someone we deeply coveted for a long time and I'm glad we managed to sign him. Lumu has so much potential and has played at a high level in the past. He is going to fit in well with the pace of the team and can be a crucial cog in our side this year," Delhi Dynamos Director Rohan Sharma said.

Delhi Dynamos have signed a total of seven foreign players for the upcoming ISL season, namely Gabriel Cichero, Matias Mirabaje, Paulinho Dias, Kalu Uche, Guyon Fernandez, Edu Moya and Jeroen Lumu.
