How Chelsea have made an incredible £123m from player sales in 2017

Chelsea have made an incredible £122.9 million in player sales in the first six months of 2017 and the figure is expected to rise as the transfer window opens on July 1.

Nathan Ake was the latest to be offloaded to Bournemouth in a £20m deal , as he returned to the club where he spent a successful six months on loan last season.

Ake and Traore have buy-back clauses

Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa are expected to follow the plethora of players who have already left Stamford Bridge - and could bring in a further £80m combined.

Chelsea began 2017 by selling Oscar for a staggering £52m to Shanghai SIPG before also sending Patrick Bamford back to his former club Middlesbrough for £6m.

Juan Cuadrado then left after his complex three-year loan arrangement was turned into a permanent deal at Juventus thanks to a clause in the deal, earning Chelsea another £17.2m.

Newcastle United took up their option to sign Christian Atsu on a permanent deal for £6.2m, while Asmir Begovic grew fed up with life as a number two goalkeeper and left for £10m to Bournemouth.

Bertrand Traore departed for Lyon for only £8.8m but Chelsea inserted a buy-back clause into the arrangement to make it worth their while . Liverpool also signed former Chelsea player Mohamed Salah for £39m from Roma and the Blues earned 10% of the Italian club's profit, which amounted to £2.7m.

Dominic Solanke ended his year of frustration at Chelsea by leaving on a free transfer but the Blues are due a fee from Liverpool in development costs. This will be settled in a tribunal and Chelsea are asking for £10m after Solanke's four goals helped England to win the Under-20 World Cup.

The summer transfer window doesn't officially open until tomorrow but Chelsea could make further sales in the coming months. Chelsea are expected to reinvest the money earned on player sales and AS Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko could be announced on Saturday by Chelsea.
