Arsenal stars hilariously try to learn Aussie lingo

With Arsenal set to visit Sydney in July, the players have been brushing up on their Aussie phrases, with varying degrees of success.

Arsene Wenger's Premier League giants will play A-League champions Sydney FC and Western Sydney in back-to-back blockbusters at ANZ Stadium next month.

The Gunners take on the Sky Blues on Thursday 13 July and then the Wanderers on Saturday 15 July.

In order to prepare for the club's first trip to Australia in 40 years, the players have been learning some of the phrases they can expect to hear on their trip Down Under.

With everything from "chuck a u-ee" to "fair dinkum" to "goin' to the rissole for a schnitty" the linguistic department at the Gunners is leaving no stone unturned.

Unsurprisingly, many of the players struggle to get to grips with the subtle complexities of the Australian dialect.

Stars such as Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Nacho Monreal seem genuinely perplexed at times during the comical language tutorial.

However, winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain emerges as the real superstar of the team by not only embracing, but in fact owning the Aussie accent.

In fact, the speedy forward's mastering of the key phrases is so good that he may well have earned honourary Australian status.
