AFC Champions League 2017: Goal's Player of the Week - Shanghai SIPG's Hulk

Givanildo Vieira de Sousa, better known as Hulk, has always had a larger-than-life image, even during his time in Europe. Known for scoring outrageous goals and powering through defenses, it was a surprise when he made the move to China.

However, he has continued to impress in Asia, quickly assuming the mantle of 'wrecker-in-chief' for Shanghai SIPG. This season, on the continent, Hulk has scored six goals and registered five assists which is second only to Omar Abdulrahman and underlines his effectiveness.

This week, playing against Jiangsu Suning in the crucial second leg of their Round of 16 clash away from home, Hulk was in his element. The burly Brazilian created the opener for Elkeson with a fantastic through ball which set things up nicely for his side. It meant they could cruise through the game, having won the first leg 2-1.

An own goal also helped Shanghai as they seemed to be easing towards a victory. However, two quick goals from Jiangsu put several seeds of doubt in Shanghai players' mids. But Hulk put their minds at ease with a goal late on complete a clinical victory.

He created four goalscoring chances throughout the game and won four fouls himself as well, giving his side the upper hand with a virtuoso display. The 30-year-old was not averse to putting some effort defensively as well, winning all the tackles he attempted.

It is no surprise that Hulk is our Player of the Week!
