Liverpool's pre-season camp began on July 5, and they kicked off with a 4-0 win over local club Tranmere Rovers on July 12, before drawing 1-1 against Wigan Atheltic two days later.

Jurgen Klopp's side are also playing in two tournaments - the Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong and the Audi Cup in Munich.

The Asia Trophy included Crystal Palace, West Brom and Leicester City, with the Reds taking on Palace for a place in the final. Goals from Dominic Solanke and Divock Origi gave Jurgen Klopp's men a 2-0 win  over the Eagles, setting up a clash against Leicester in the final.

The Reds won the tournament by beating the Foxes 2-1 , with Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho inspiring a comeback after Islam Slimani put Craig Shakespeare's side ahead.

After that, Liverpool played a special game against Hertha Berlin at the Olympiastadion to mark both clubs' 125th anniversaries, winning 3-0, and they will then head to Munich for the Audi Cup for a two-day doubleheader.

Klopp's side booked their place in the final of the friendly tournament with an impressive 3-0 win over hosts Bayern Munich, but were ultimately undone on penalties by Atletico Madrid.

A visit to Dublin's Aviva Stadium to face Athletic Club rounds out their schedule ahead of the new campaign.

WHEN DOES THE SEASON START?

Liverpool are not in the Community Shield and do not have any early European commitments, so their first competitive match of the season will fall on Saturday, August 12, when they visit Watford in the Premier League.

The latest Liverpool transfer rumours

The Reds' opening clash will kick off at 12.30pm for television purposes but they have kept the Saturday date as they will play the first leg of their Champions League play-off the following Tuesday or Wednesday. The return leg is a week later, meaning Klopp will have to plan for five matches over a span of two weeks to start the season.

Barring a potential run-out for some of their youth or depth players during the week, the date with Athletic seven days before their league kick-off will almost certainly be their final outing before the new campaign.
