Arsenal's Sanchez takes ridiculous dive

"Well that’s embarrassing for Alexis Sanchez."

So said the commentator who no doubt is used to seeing a lot of simulation in football.

But this effort from Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez against Leicester this morning was truly ridiculous.

Standing directly in front of Leicester’s Christian Fuchs as he attempted to take a long throw in, Sanchez was being a pest.

Fuchs had enough and launched the ball directly at Sanchez. It flew off his shoulder.

But summoning the great simulator Rivaldo, Sanchez clutched at his face a second later and went down like he was shot.

The commentators were having none of it.

“Did it hit him in the face? No, it has hit him on the shoulder,” one said.

“Oh, dear oh dear, he won’t want to watch that again tonight.”

The other then ripped in about how embarrassed he will be when he does.

Sanchez for his part tried to show the fans post-match just how much damage had been done with this tweet.

Arsenal did however go on to win the match after a late own goal to Leicester saw the Gunners keep their top-four ambitions alive for another week.
