Crazed caller loses mind over Messi milestone

One of the most emotional commentators in world football was back at his hilarious best for Lionel Messi's landmark moment against Real Madrid.

The Barcelona superstar put another exclamation mark on an astonishing career by netting his 500th career goal for the Catalans, to seal a stoppage time win in El Clasico.

The timing and significance of the strike wasn't lost on anyone in the football world, and certainly not on commentator Gerard Romeno.

Video of the Spanish caller losing his mind over Barcelona's great escape in the Champions League against PSG went viral in March.

And just like last month, Romeno's heart was firmly on his sleeve when Messi finished off a slick move to claim another slice of history.

Ronaldinho and Sergio Aguero led a host of former and current team-mates who hailed Messi following his 500th Barcelona goal.

Messi's magic ensured Barcelona stayed alive in the title race, as they drew level on points with their arch-rivals, having played one more game in La Liga.

In an emotive video, Ronaldinho jokingly took the credit for the star's first Barca strike as he paid his respects.

"Leo, my brother, I am sending you a message to congratulate you on your 500 goals," the exuberant Brazilian said.

"I gave your the first of those 500 so I'm very happy, congratulations and all my love."

Aguero, who has been an international team-mate of Messi's since Argentina's Under-20 World Cup win back in 2005, also congratulated his close friend on the milestone.

"Hello Papi, I wanted to congratulate you on your 500 goals, I am very happy and hope you continue scoring many more," the Manchester City striker said.
