Ledley responds to claims he laughed at broken leg victim Coleman

Joe Ledley says those suggesting that he laughed at Seamus Coleman after seeing the Republic of Ireland international suffer a broken leg “need their heads testing”.

The Wales international was on the field as Neil Taylor’s second-half challenge on Coleman left the Everton defender with a double fracture and the need for surgery during a 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Suspended Bale protests after O'Shea challenge

He was shown a straight red card for the tackle, despite protests from the Wales side.

As Coleman was receiving treatment, Ledley was among those who could be seen walking away from the scene.

Some on social media were quick to suggest that the expression on his face was that of a smirk, rather than a wince.

The Crystal Palace midfielder has, however, hit back at any suggestion that he would find a horrific injury suffered by a fellow professional funny.

Coleman is due to undergo surgery on Saturday and is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

There were still some 20 minutes left to play when he was forced from the field at the Aviva Stadium on Friday, but the Group D contest finished goalless.
