City come from behind in thrilling win over Monaco

Manchester City have come from behind to defeat Monaco 5-3 in one of the most exciting games of Champions League football in recent years.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring for the home side in the 26th minute, while Radamel Falcao scored six minutes later.

Monaco went into the half-time break leading 2-1 thanks to a 40th-minute goal to young star Kylian Mbappe.

But it all kicked off in the second half as City scored three goals in 11 minutes to secure the first leg of their round-of-16 tie.

In what proved to be a crucial turning point in the match, City goalkeeper Willy Caballero saved a penalty from Falcao that would have put Monaco 3-1 up.

"It was end-to-end stuff and at the end of the day Monaco gave us a real tough game," Sterling told BT Sport 2.

"I was impressed with the way they kept scoring. We had to keep pulling back and that's what we've done and we've got the win and that's the most important thing."
