Brisbane Roar skipper produces 'miss of an eternity'

Matt McKay was counting his lucky stars Brisbane beat Shanghai Shenhua after producing one of the worst open-goal misses in recent memory.

The Roar ran out 2-0 winners to advance to the Asian Champions League group stage on Wednesday night, but it should have been 3-0.

Late in the game Nicholas D'Agostino put a third goal on a platter for McKay with a brilliant ball across the face of the opposition keeper.

CARLOS WHO? Roar upstage Tevez in massive upset

The Brisbane captain only had to tap the ball home from point black range, but somehow managed to jump over the top of it to let an absolute sitter go begging.

"How did he miss that? That is an unbelievable miss!" said commentators.

"That's one of the misses of an eternity, not just a season."

Lucky for McKay the howler didn't prove costly as Brisbane upstaged Carlos Tevez's side to advance.
