Fans blow up as shocking call lets Barca off hook

Barcelona were given a massive let-off in their Spanish Cup semi-final when a goal to Atletico Madrid was incorrectly disallowed.

The 1-1 draw in the second leg at the Nou Camp saw Barca seal a 3-2 aggregate win and a place in the Copa del Rey final.

But the result could have been much different if a second half goal to Antoine Griezmann was allowed to stand.

Luis Suarez had put Barcelona 1-0 up with an easy first half finish before they were reduced to ten men courtesy of a second yellow card to Sergi Roberto.

Griezmann thought he had made the man advantage count after being played into the Barcelona box and lashing in a fine finish past keeper Jasper Cillessen.

However, the referee incorrectly ruled that the Frenchman was offside, despite replays showing that he was clearly behind the last line of defence.

Fans posted photos of the incident after the match, accompanied by angry tirades at the officials.

To add insult to injury, Yannick Carrasco also saw red for Atleti, before Kevin Gameiro missed a chance to equalise via the penalty spot.

The substitute made amends by leveling the contest with an 83rd minute goal, but Barca hung on to seal their spot in the cup final.

However, Suarez's late sending off means the Barcelona striker will be unavailable for the decider against either Alaves or Celta Vigo.
