Comeback sealed with incredible last-gasp wonder goal

As far as dramatic finishes to a football match go, they don’t come much better than Krasnodar’s against-the-odds win over Zenit St Petersburg in the Russian Premier League.

The only thing more stunning than Tornike Okriashvili’s bicycle kick that won the game for the hosts was the manner in which it occurred.

Krasnodar looked headed for a crushing defeat after Zenit took a 1-0 lead in the 86th minute, but the home side set up a thrilling finish by grabbing the equalising goal in stoppage time.

It looked for all money like the match was going to end in a draw but one final foray resulted a piece of brilliance from Krasnodar’s midfielder that was worthy of winning any match.

Zenit’s goalkeeper Yuri Lodygin seemed to have punched a dangerous cross to safety but with his back to goal, Okriashvili acrobatically volleyed the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.

Lodygin looked stunned as the ball fizzed past him and into the back of the net, prompting wild celebrations from Krasnodar and their fans.

The incredible result saw Krasnodar move up into third on the table, four points behind Zenit and 10 behind leaders Spartak Moscow.
