Blood pours from Jurman after sickening head clash

Sydney FC’s Matthew Jurman was the epitome of bravery in his side’s A-League match against Adelaide United, following a sickening incident with James Holland.

Both players went up for an aerial contest as the ball pinballed through the Sky Blues' goal box, when they came together in a bruising collision of heads.

Holland remained on the ground in pain while Jurman spun away clutching at his eye, flicking blood away as it streamed down his face.

The match was stopped while Jurman had his head patched up and wrapped in a white bandage, before he eventually returned to the fray.

The Sydney skipper then received a raucous reception from the home fans as his first three touches all came in the form of headers.

Clearly the sense of irony wasn’t lost on the Sky Blues supporters.
