Roma player accidentally scores exquisite rabona goal

Whether intentional or not, there was no disputing the level of cheekiness in the goal Diego Perotti scored for Roma in the Europa League.

The Argentine netted Roma’s third goal of the night in the 4-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen, courtesy of an exquisite rabona shot-come-cross.

On first glance it looked like an audacious attempt at goal that caught the opposition goalkeeper off his line.

But Perotti’s sheepish reaction after the ball nestled into the back of the net suggested he was actually trying to cross the ball.

Regardless, it looked incredible and as any good striker would attest, it’s not how the ball ends up in the back of the net that matters.
