Football player sent off after over-exuberant celebration
Nottingham Forest player Hildeberto Pereira committed the rookie error of celebrating a goal too exuberantly, when he was already on a yellow card.
After setting up Henri Lansbury’s late equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, Pereira got swept up in the moment and ran over to celebrate with the travelling Forest fans.
However, referee Simon Hooper decided the Portuguse had crossed the line by making contact with the crowd, and subsequently handed Pereira his marching orders via a second yellow card.
Unsurprisingly, fans from both sides took to social media to vent their frustrations at the decision after the final whistle.
Just seen the forest red card omg how the hell Simon hooper is a referee I never know what a joke #nffc

Speaking as a Villa fan, I hope Forest get Pereira's red card rescinded. Shocking decision by the referee. #AVFC #NFFC

Fortunately for Pereira, Forest were able to hang on for the remaining few minutes in the match, and walk away with a share of the spoils.
