Reid goes nuts after Cresswell suffers horror tackle

West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell will miss the start of the EPL season after being ruled out for up to four months with a knee injury.

The 26-year-old left-back was on the end of a shocking lunging tackle from Karlsruher SC midfielder Grischa Promel during a pre-season friendly.

Promel gained possession and tried to play on before a livid Mark Noble tacked him down with a rough tackle from behind.....then it was Winston Reid's turn to step in.

The Kiwi defender was ropeable at the unsportsmanlike tackle, considering it was a friendly match. Reid had to be held back by teammates after storming towards Pomel, shouting aggressively and grabbing him by the throat to let him know exactly how he felt.

Cresswell will see a specialist in London next week to determine whether or not he requires surgery.

West Ham's medical chief Stijn Vandenbroucke told the club website: "Whatever course of action we decide to take, Aaron faces a period of rest, followed by treatment and rehabilitation and he will be out for a period of between three and four months."
