It was all too much for one French fan, who couldn't help but burst into tears as he watched on in the aftermath.

But in one of the most touching fan moments in recent years, a little Portuguese boy restored our faith in humanity with an incredible gesture.

Seeing the crying Frenchman, the youngster patted his rival on the hand and told him it would be alright.

The stunned man threw his arms around the boy and the pair shared a magnificent moment that has gone viral on social media.
