'60,000 fans working this out': Penalty call stuns Germany

Germany were left fuming in their Euro 2016 semi final loss when a Bastian Schweinsteiger handball went unnoticed by everyone except the referee.

France were awarded a controversial penalty in first half stoppage time when the German skipper raised his arm while trying to clear a corner.

The referee spotted the ball hitting Schweinsteiger's hand, but fans and commentators were less than convinced by inconclusive replays.

Schweinsteiger remonstrated with the whistleblower, but his appeals fell on deaf ears as he was issued a yellow card.

Though there was no time for the German midfielder to move his hand, the No.7 shouldn't have had his arm in that position to begin with.

Antoine Griezmann slammed home the ensuing spot kick and sent France into the final with a another goal in the second half.
