Footage emerges of France coach's rousing World Cup pep talk

Vision has emerged from the World Cup showing France coach Didier Deschamps’ rousing halftime pep talk before his side went on to lift the trophy.

A former World Cup winner himself, Deschamps clearly knew what it was going to take to see his nation claim its second trophy in a tense affair against Croatia in Moscow.

Small in stature but massive in presence, there is a distinct silence from every single French player sitting in the change room as Deschamps delivers his rallying halftime address.

Key among his messages were instructions to speed up their passing, to get the ball to speedster Kylian Mbappe more often and for Antoine Griezmann to drop deeper to help his side out in transition.

He reminds them to be mindful of the threat Croatian target man Mario Mandzukic poses and reiterates the directive to play simple football.

French stars Griezmann and Paul Pogba can then be heard urging their teammates to relax and stay positive, before defender Rafael Varane delivers the final motivational play.

Banging on the treatment table and drumming with his hands, the Real Madrid star assures his side they’re going to win – urging them to give it everything over the remaining 45 minutes.

Certainly in the case of getting Mbappe involved more, the plan from Deschamps worked a treat as his speedy forward had a hand in one goal and scored another to help seal the 4-2 triumph.

The footage in the video above has powerful similarities to a halftime speech Pogba delivered before France’s World Cup last-16 win over Argentina, telling his team-mates “today we kill them, Messi or no Messi”.

Pogba made a number of speeches en route to the decider and footage of his comments prior to France’s thrilling 4-3 triumph at the expense of Lionel Messi’s Argentina in Kazan has emerged.

“I want to see warriors on the field guys,” Pogba told his team-mates in a scene from a documentary aired by TF1. “I don’t want to go home!

“We will finish happy! I want to party tonight. I want to be dead on the field, all together! I want men, warriors, soldiers.

“Today we will ‘kill’ them. Messi or no Messi I don’t care! We come to win this f****** World Cup!”
