Mayweather hits Horn with brutal put-down

Jeff Horn is so far from Floyd Mayweather's mind that the boxing legend doesn't even know the Aussie's name.

Horn threw the gauntlet down to Mayweather after his stunning upset victory over Manny Pacquiao last month, challenging the American to take up a 'real fight', rather than the publicity stunt that is his upcoming bout with UFC star Conor McGregor.

But in a recent interview with ESPN, Mayweather hit horn with a massive put-down, failing to even remember the Aussie fighter's name.

Mayweather was defending some of his controversial past fights - namely the one against Andre Berto - when he dissed Horn without even realising.

"So it was OK for Manny Pacquiao to fight the guy he just fought," Mayweather said.

"But it’s a problem for me to fight a two-time world champion.

"The guy Pacquiao fight, we don’t even know. We don’t even know who he is, I don’t even know his name right now."

Interviewer Stephen A. Smith, who was particularly critical of the decision to award Horn victory over Pacquiao, only added to the insult.

"Joe Horn, from Australia," he said.

Ah, you mean Jeff?

Smith made the same mistake in the lead-up to Horn's win over Pacquiao, calling him Joe again, before unloading on the judges.

"It was a bogus decision," Smith told ESPN at the time.

"It’s stuff like this that hurts the sport of boxing ... it’s a horrible decision."

Horn called out Mayweather straight after claiming the unanimous points decision win over Pacquiao at Suncorp Stadum.

"One thing first — this is just having a bit of a dig overseas to Floyd Mayweather — this is no joke, which one does he want?,” Horn asked in the ring.

"The walking stick or the gloves? Come have a real fight," Horn said as he held a pair of boxing gloves in his right hand, and a walking stick in his left.

But Mayweather recently put paid to Horn's challenge, saying the McGregor fight was likely to be the last of his incredible 49-0 career.
