According to an arrest report obtained by WPLG, a two-month-long police investigation began on Nov. 14 after Cowan brought her dog to a veterinarian for medical treatment.

The report claims Cowan told police that after not sleeping for nearly four days, she had a dream that led her to stabbing her dog in the neck "several times," believing it was a sacrifice to save humanity.
