A FIFA working group will soon present football's lawmakers with options for a video assistant referee system which can be used at all levels of the game, a statement says.

Experts from across football have been working on the concept, dubbed "VAR light".

At the moment only major international and domestic competitions use the expensive existing technology.

A statement from the FIFA Working Group for Innovation Excellence acknowledged that the current advanced system has issues, with fans becoming frustrated with offside calls taking too long and armpits and other body parts being ruled offside like never before.

The group said it had "considered the improvement of the visualisation of close offside incidents" and also said it was looking at "the development of semi-automated offside technology to make the review process for offside incidents as efficient as possible".
