Fans brutally troll Nick Kyrgios in Australian Open loss

A crocked Nick Kyrgios has been ruthlessly trolled by fans on social media during his first round loss at the Australian Open.

The unseeded Kyrgios had the daunting task of coming up against Canada’s big-serving 16th seed Milos Raonic in his opening match at Melbourne Park.

To make the task even more difficult, the Aussie appeared to be carrying a troublesome knee issue going into the contest.

The Aussie firebrand had strapping below his right knee and the problem flared up midway through the opening set when play stopped momentarily so Kyrgios could get treatment from a physio.

Despite the obvious discomfort the 23-year-old was in, viewers couldn’t resist sticking the boot into the outspoken star on social media – suggesting his head merely wasn’t in the contest.

The first set went predictably on serve until the all-important tenth game of the set when Raonic set up three breaks points for a chance to take the opener.

Kyrgios staved off two break points but the Canadian capitalised at the third to strike first blood.

The pair had played six times prior to Tuesday night’s match, with the ledger standing at three wins apiece.

Barely anything could separate the pair in the second stanza with Kyrgios saving a set point on his own serve, before tying it up at 5-5.

The Aussie forced a tiebreak but was finding the Raonic serve a particularly tough nut to crack.

Kyrgios came within a whisker of a crucial backhand winner but his challenge proved unsuccessful after replays showed the ball centimetres out.

It proved to be the only real sniff Raonic gave the Aussie in the tiebreak as the Canadian’s big weapon held firm and he took a two-sets-to-love advantage.

Raonic showed why he’s regarded as one of the best servers in the world as his brutal exhibition continued in the third set.

The Canadian ended up with 30 aces to Kyrgios’ 15 as he eased into the second round with a 6-4 7-6 6-4 win.
