Your eyes didn't deceive you, Alabama was tied 10-10 with The Citadel at halftime
Welcome to the score of the year in college football, even if was just a halftime score.
The Citadel made a 48-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter to tie No. 1 Alabama 10-10 entering halftime. Not only is it the first time all year that a team has been tied with Alabama at halftime of a game, it’s the first time a team has been within fewer than two scores of the Tide at the break.
The Citadel tied the game at 7-7 earlier with a 45-yard touchdown run by freshman running back Dante Smith. It was the first touchdown scored against Alabama in over 170 minutes. Neither LSU nor Mississippi State scored at all against the Tide in Alabama’s most recent two games.
The Bulldogs’ social media feed took notice.

Alabama coach Nick Saban is probably secretly happy his team is getting a test from a smaller opponent. It gives him a chance to reinforce how the Tide shouldn’t be complacent and fix mistakes and issues that the team has.

The FCS opponent is getting paid to be Alabama’s opponent before the annual Iron Bowl against Auburn on Nov. 24. And, as we all imagined, the game became a rout in the second half thanks to two early third quarter Alabama touchdowns.
