HOW QUEENSLAND SHAPE UP FOR ORIGIN III

Fullback - Billy Slater (age 35)

Origins: 30

Origin tries: 12

Will take over the Queensland captaincy for the first time in what will be his Origin swansong. Made a world of difference to the Maroons in his return in game two.

Wing - Valentine Holmes (age 22)

Origins: 4

Origin tries: 6

Has been one of Queensland's best across this series, bagging a try in both games. Explosive on the edge, made 197 metres and three linebreaks in Sydney.

Centre - Dane Gagai (age 27)

Origins: 9

Origin tries: 9

With Greg Inglis out, has been moved from the wing into the centres. Has established himself as a leader of the new Queensland era.

Centre - Will Chambers (age 30)

Origins: 9

Origin tries: 3

Has had a monumental battle with Latrell Mitchell throughout the series. Copped criticism for a poor kick which cost the Maroons an attacking opportunity in the dying stages of game two.

Wing - Corey Oates (age 23)

Origins: 4

Origin tries: 2

Has been forced to bide his time after being overlooked for games one and two. One of the best finishers in the game, is sure to create headaches for the Blues.

Five-eighth - Cameron Munster (age 23)

Origins: 3

Origin tries: 0

One of the Maroons' best this year and looked dangerous every time he's touched the ball. A player Kevin Walters can build his side around.

Halfback - Daly Cherry-Evans (age 29)

Origins: 6

Origin tries: 0

After three years in the wilderness, finally gets another shot at a Queensland jumper. Has been given the No.7 ahead of Ben Hunt and has a chance cement his spot for years to come.

Prop - Jai Arrow (age 26)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: 0

The Gold Coast workhorse has been shifted from lock to the front-row. One of Queensland's best forwards in his debut series.

Hooker - Andrew McCullough (age 28)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: 0

Was always going to be a tough gig replacing Cameron Smith. Has been solid but Walters will look to him to provide a bit more direction in game three.

Prop - Josh Papalii (age 26)

Origins: 11

Origin tries: 1

Comes into the starting 13 at the expense of the disappointing Jarrod Wallace. Has the potential to provide more go-forward.

Second-row - Gavin Cooper (age 32)

Origins: 5

Origin tries: 1

Provides valuable experience to the Maroons pack in a time of transition. Got through a mountain of work, including 44 tackles, in game two.

Second-row - Felise Kaufusi (age 26)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: 0

Has caused a few headaches for NSW on his left edge in his debut series and proven he has a big future in representative footy.

Lock - Josh McGuire (age 28)

Origins: 10

Origin tries: 0

The ever-reliable No.13 has had an injury-interrupted season but hasn't taken a backwards step this Origin series. One of the cornerstones of the Maroons pack.

Bench - Ben Hunt (age 28)

Origins: 3

Origin tries: 0

Pilloried for his game two performance and demoted back to the bench. Likely to come on and fill in at hooker. A career-defining game awaits.

Bench - Jarrod Wallace (age 26)

Origins: 4

Origin tries: 1

Has failed to make more than 44 metres in either of the opening two matches and demoted from the starting side. Walters will want a resounding response.

Bench - Coen Hess (age 21)

Origins: 4

Origin tries: 0

Still young but hasn't lived up to expectation this year. His Origin form has mirrored his output during North Queensland's troubled season.

Bench - Tim Glasby (age 29)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: 0

Mocked as "Tim who?" by the Sydney press in his Origin debut last year. Comes into the squad for the injured Dylan Napa. Will tighten up Queensland's defence around the ruck.
