What to expect from NSW in Origin III

HOW NSW SHAPE UP FOR ORIGIN III

Fullback - James Tedesco (age 25)

Origins: 6

Origin tries: 2

After starring in game one, the Blues' top metre-eater in the series was slightly overshadowed by Maroons counterpart Billy Slater in game two. Still looms as a potential NSW match-winner.

Wing - Tom Trbojevic (age 21)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: 1

Didn't see as much ball in game two as he did in the opener but made an impression with some pivotal reads in defence when James Roberts was sin-binned. Will have his hands full with recalled Maroons winger Corey Oates.

Centre - Latrell Mitchell (age 21)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: 2

Entered the series with a reputation as a big-game player and has delivered with a crucial try in each of the two games. His individual match-up against Will Chambers has been must-see viewing.

Centre - James Roberts (age 25)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: Nil

Got busier in game two compared to his debut, but speedster Roberts has yet to hit top gear at Origin level. An injury to Greg Inglis means a new centre opponent in reigning Wally Lewis medallist Dane Gagai.

Wing - Josh Addo-Carr (age 22)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: 2

Speed kills, and the Blues flyer has murdered the Maroons' right edge with a try in each of the two contests. But his defence could be tested after missing four of his 12 tackles in Origin II.

Five-eighth - James Maloney (age 32)

Origins: 11

Origin tries: 2

The veteran's four try assists in the two games so far - as well as his perfect three from three goalkicking in Origin II - have allowed the Blues to put up with a couple of missed tackles. Strong contender for the Wally Lewis medal as player of the series.

Halfback - Nathan Cleary (age 20)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: Nil

Aside from memorable try-saving cover tackle in game two, hasn't quite hit his straps in his two games but is an able deputy to Maloney.

Prop - David Klemmer (age 24)

Origins: 11

Origin tries: Nil

Enters game three as the most experienced front-rower from either team and will be looking to make up for lost time after only being used for one stint in game two.

Hooker - Damien Cook (age 27)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: Nil

Didn't have as much success in game two as he did in the opener, however the electric Blues rake still poses a running threat every time there's a quick play-the-ball.

Prop - Paul Vaughan (age 27)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: Nil

Gets his chance to start after playing just 57 minutes combined over the opening two games. The third front-rower to start in the No.10 after an injury to Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Matt Prior's axing.

Second-row - Boyd Cordner (age 26)

Origins: 11

Origin tries: 2

A captain's knock in game one then got knocked out in game two yet still claimed man-of-the-match honours. Enters game three with a minor calf strain but would love to be there to lift the shield at fulltime.

Second-row - Tyson Frizell (age 26)

Origins: 7

Origin tries: 2

Proven to be the most versatile forward in the game with stints in the front and back row across both matches. Could see more time in the middle this time without a noted prop on the bench.

Lock - Jack De Belin (age 27)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: Nil

Shows few ill-effects of the hip injury he's been carrying the past two months. Entered the series with a defensive reputation, and delivered by forcing a key turnover in Origin II.

Bench - Tariq Sims (age 28)

Origins: Nil

Origin tries: Nil

Finally gets to debut after being 18th man for games one and two. Brought in as cover for Cordner, but will likely rattle the Maroons any time he's on the field.

Bench - Jake Trbojevic (age 24)

Origins: 5

Origin tries: Nil

Claimed the Blues' players' player award for game two after his injection from the bench stole momentum from the Maroons. A genuine double-threat with his astute running and subtle ball-playing.

Bench - Angus Crichton (age 22)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: Nil

Only got 33 minutes in game two but it was enough to break three tackles and offload twice. Can be used in the middle but his power-running on the edge could prove lethal.

Bench - Tyrone Peachey (age 26)

Origins: 2

Origin tries: Nil

The versatile Penrith star received seven minutes in game one and 10 in game two, and will likely be relying on injuries to get any more time in game three.
