ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski apologizes for sending profane email to Missouri Senator Josh Hawley

ESPN basketball reporter Adrian Wojnarowski apologized Friday after sending a profane email to Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley. In a statement, Wojnarowski said he was “disrespectful and made a regrettable mistake.”

Wojnarowski also apologized to his ESPN colleagues, saying “I know my actions were unacceptable.”

On Friday, Hawley sent a letter to NBA commissioner Adam Silver asking why the NBA won’t allow phrases like “Support Our Troops” and “Back the Blue” on their jerseys in 2020. Hawley also questioned the league’s relationship with China.

Hours later, Hawley tweeted out a screenshot of an email in which Wojnarowski used his ESPN account to respond to Hawley’s press release with, “F—- you.”

ESPN called Wojnarowski’s behavior “completely unacceptable” in a statement. The network said it would speak with Wojnarowski about the email, and that “the specifics of those conversations will remain internal.”
