EPL betting: Liverpool and Chelsea's odds to win the league are getting better

Liverpool’s odds to win the Premier League are getting better and better.

The No. 2 team in the league through nine games is now at just +250 to win the league after opening at +500 before the season. Liverpool is still the No. 2 favorite to win the league after Man City, though City’s odds to win the tile have gotten slightly worse. After opening at -150, the defending champions are at -110 to win the league.

Chelsea currently leads the league standings with 22 points through the first nine games of the season. That’s two points ahead of Man City and a point ahead of Liverpool. Chelsea also opened at +500 to win the league and may be the best value at +300 currently. Chelsea has allowed just three goals all season long. Manchester City has allowed four and Liverpool — who has scored a league-leading 27 goals — has allowed six.

Liverpool has gotten the most bets to win the league with 32% of the wagers. Chelsea is close behind with 25% of bets and has gotten the most money. Over 35% of the handle is on Chelsea. Man City accounts for over 14% of bets but those bets make up just 8% of the handle.

No one is even close to those four teams in terms of odds at this point of the season either. Manchester United opened at +750 to win the league and is now at +6600 to win after getting just 14 points through the first nine games and allowing 15 goals. Granted, five of those came to Liverpool on Sunday but United’s defense has been shaky and its midfield has gotten overrun. That’s why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the hot seat ahead of games against Tottenham and City.

Tottenham is a point ahead of United and is now at +20000 to win the league after opening at +4000.

The biggest liability at the book is West Ham. The Hammers are at +20000 after opening at +15000 and currently sit in fourth with 17 points. Just over 7% of bets to win the league are on West Ham while those bets make up 12.3% of the handle.
