Stuart Broad cops massive fine for 'unsportsmanlike' act
Stuart Broad has copped a massive fine for his fiery send-off of Indian debutant Rishabh Pant.
The England bowler didn’t hold back in his tirade, which landed him in some hot water after being reported by the umpires.
The 32-year-old’s outburst cost him 15% of his match fee as well as one demerit point, as decided by the International Cricket Council.
But it had cricket fans completely divided in their assessment of the incident, and whether it deserved the hefty punishment.
Lol Stuart Broad saying a few words n giving send off to debutant Rishabh Pant. Try doing that to Virat Kohli 😂
Doesn't matter now. #ViratKohli will take a note of this for sure 😂#ENGvIND

Stuart Broad is talking a bit too much. @RishabPant777 maybe the 2nd innings you can remind him about the @YUVSTRONG12 6 sixes. #ENGvIND

People who got offended by Stuart Broad send off to pant are the same people who supports and cheer Virat kohli’s abuses on the field, lol ridiculous 😂👎🏻#ENGvIND #Cricket 🏏

Oh dear Stuart Broad. That lovely send off you gave to Pant must seem well worth it after that. #ENGvIND

I'm English and I'm embarrassed by that send off Stuart Broad gave a young Pant on debut. Maybe frustration after bowling well yesterday and not getting wickets. Hope he looks back and regretts it. Game needs a bit of spice but not like that. #ENGvIND #Broad #Pant

Broad fined for giving pant the send off. The game has gone. If you can’t tell someone to f*** off after bowling 60 overs and staring down certain defeat then when can you do it

Broad admitted breaching the ICC’s code of conduct as reported by match referee Jeff Crowe.
The England pacer was disciplined by the ICC for the send-off during the ongoing third Test against India at Trent Bridge, the global governing body said Tuesday.
Broad dismissed debutant wicket-keeper Pant in India’s first innings on Sunday and was deemed by umpires Marais Erasmus and Chris Gaffaney to have “walked towards the batsman and spoke in an aggressive manner”.
The fast bowler, whose father Chris Broad is himself an ICC match referee, as well as a former England opening batsman, also had one demerit point added to his disciplinary record.
