Eleje: Katsina United's season has just kicked off

Ahead of Wednesday's game against Enugu Rangers, Katsina United’s Obinna Eleje says already kick-started their 2017-18 season with their home victory over Enyimba.

The Chanji Boys were held to a 2-2 draw by Kano Pillars in their opening fixture of the season at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium before their 1-2 narrow loss to Sunshine Stars in Akure.

But Eleje believes that their defeat of the seven-time league champions on Sunday has given them renewed hope that they can achieve even more.

“It was a tough home fixture for us against Enyimba but having watched them in recent games, we knew that we had what it takes to beat them and we explored the possibilities against them,” Eleje told Goal.

“Enyimba probably came with the mindset that the game would be easy for them but we took time to study them during the pre-season tournament in Kano.

“We believe that this win will help us to get even more fine results later on in the season.

"We have started something nice with our first win of the season and we are determined to sustain it ahead of our game [against Enugu Rangers] on Wednesday," he concluded.
