EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has offered the first look at powerful new scenes for Alfie Moon.

Alfie has spent the last several weeks undergoing testing to find out if he has prostate cancer. At first, Alfie kept the news to himself, but he eventually opened up to Phil Mitchell about his fears.

Alfie originally found out he may have cancer after being injured by his son Tommy Moon, as routine tests flagged that he had several symptoms associated with the disease.

Kat and Phil accompany Alfie to the hospital as he awaits news from his cancer specialist about potential treatment options.

EastEnders producer Chris Clenshaw has been working with Prostate Cancer UK and Macmillian Cancer Support on this issue-based storyline to raise awareness and ensure the issue was portrayed accurately.

Clenshaw has said of the storyline: "When we first embarked on this storyline we knew it was imperative that we worked alongside Prostate Cancer UK and Macmillian Cancer Support to take on and accurately portray such an emotional and pivotal storyline for Alfie, and one that many viewers may relate to.
