Draw lifts Valencia out of La Liga danger

A late equaliser from Maxi Gomez has helped Valencia climb out of the relegation zone with a 1-1 draw against Cadiz in La Liga.

His strike cancelled out Anthony Lozano's acrobatic second-half opener with the hosts now above the bottom three on goal difference.

Valencia - winless in eight league games - lost Kevin Gameiro to injury and it got worse when Lozano struck after 58 minutes before Gomez levelled with 11 minutes left.

"It's always good to pick up a point away from home and even more so against a team like Valencia," Cadiz scorer Lozano said.

Asked about his super goal he added: "The ball came at me and that was the way of finishing it that first came to mind."

It was a vital point for struggling Valencia.

"We started well but they scored first and it's hard when you are on a bad run to be back into the game but we managed it," said Valencia defender Hugo Guillamon.

"We wanted to get the win but we just have to keep working hard to turn the situation around."
