Borussia Dortmund have strolled to a 3-0 victory at third-tier 1860 Munich for a place in the second round of the German Cup.

Donyell Malen ended any upset hopes from the hosts by opening the scoring in the eighth minute.

The lively Dutchman was also involved in Jude Bellingham's tap-in for 2-0 in the 31st, and in the third from newly signed Karim Adeyemi four minutes later as five-time cup winners Dortmund decided the affair before the break.

"We were the favourites. I believe we played a good match and deserved the win. We had good harmony, that is what counts," Adeyemi told broadcasters ZDF.

Adeyemi was one of three summer signings fielded by coach Edin Terzic in the starting 11, the others being centre backs Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck.

It was Terzic's first official match in his summer return since he completed a first Dortmund term, as caretaker, with the 2021 Cup title.

The only other Bundesliga club in action on the night also won - VfB Stuttgart prevailing 1-0 at third division Dynamo Dresden from Darko Churlinov's first half effort, before they had Waldemar Anton sent off midway through the second half.

Second division clubs Nuremberg and Karlsruhe also advanced.

The first round runs until Monday but title holders Leipzig and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will play their games at later dates because they meet in the German Super Cup on Saturday.
