Does Nebraska play today? College football schedule for Cornhuskers' next game after Week 7 bye

One of the bigger overarching questions surrounding Nebraska football entering the season was whether of not Matt Rhule's reputation of turning around programs from Year 1 to Year 2 would replicate itself again.

Through the first six weeks of the college football season, the answer is a resounding yes.

At 5-1 overall on the season, the Cornhuskers have already tied their win total from last season in Rhule's first season at five. The Cornhuskers' only loss thus far this season came against No. 23 Illinois, a game that Nebraska's late-game heroics behind freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola fell short in overtime.

Whether Nebraska can continue its trajectory in Year 2 under Rhule remains to be seen, as the Cornhuskers have a challenging stretch coming up to finish the Big Ten season. But one thing is for certain though, Nebraska is one win away from having the most wins in a single season since 2016.

Here's what you need to know on when Nebraska returns to actions, including a look at the Cornhuskers' remaining schedule for the 2024 season:

Does Nebraska football play today?

No, Nebraska does not play today, as the Cornhuskers are currently on the first of their byes for the 2024 college football season in Week 7.

Raiola and the Cornhuskers return to action in Week 8 against No. 20 Indiana on the road in Bloomington, Indiana. Next Saturday's matchup will be the 23rd all-time meeting between the Cornhuskers and Hoosiers, and the first since 2022 when Nebraska came out with the 35-21 victory.

The upcoming stretch for Nebraska will be quite the challenging one, as Rhule's squad will face two teams that were ranked in this week's US LBM Coaches Poll and one just outside of it. Following next week's game at No. 20 Indiana, Nebraska will stay on the road and travel to No. 2 Ohio State on Oct. 26. Then after a home game vs. UCLA on Nov. 2, the Cornhuskers will travel to Los Angeles and face USC on Nov. 16.

Nebraska will close the season with contests against Wisconsin and Iowa. ESPN Analytics is projecting the Cornhuskers to go 2-4 in their remaining six games, with wins coming against UCLA and Wisconsin. Nebraska is one win away from becoming bowl-eligible, i.e. six wins.
