Dejan Kulusevski fires dig at Antonio Conte as he reveals key Ange Postecoglou change at Tottenham
Dejan Kulusevski believes Tottenham players have found it “easier” to train since Ange Postecoglou brought his entertaining brand of football to the club.
It has been a strong start to the season for Spurs, who sit second in the Premier League table after picking up ten points from their opening four matches of the campaign. Only Brighton have bettered their tally of 11 League goals.
Postecoglou has made an immediate impression at the club, helping to lift the mood after last season’s struggles under Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and eventually Ryan Mason.
The Australian made it clear when he first arrived at Tottenham that he wanted to excite the fans and he has so far delivered on that promise, with the exception of a frustating Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Fulham.
Kulusevski revealed how positive the training sessions have been under Postecoglou, as he fired a dig at Conte’s methods in emphasising that the players are now told to “run forward and not backwards”.
“We had a tough time at the end of last season,” Kulusevski told Fotbollskanalen while on international duty with Sweden.
“[Postecoglou] has come in with really positive energy and it has gone very quickly. Of course, we are all a little surprised. But he’s really good.
“We are a young team and everyone wants to play this way. I’m not saying that what we did before was completely wrong, but it was something completely different.
“I think it’s easier to come to training every day and know that you should play with the ball, that you should attack and run forward and not backwards. So, it is clear that all of us players have done everything possible to listen as much as possible.”
