Jason Day has held off a big final round challenge from American Aaron Wise to claim the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte.
The Aussie moved to second in the FedEx Cup standings after a final round 69 saw him clinch a two-stroke win.
Day went into the fourth round holding a two-shot advantage but a stunning round from Wise saw the American draw level with the Aussie on the final stretch.
The former world No.1 made back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th – at which he almost made a hole in one when his 230-yard tee shot hit the flag – to re-establish his lead.
Day was left needing to sink a two-metre putt in two shots or less on the last to seal victory – with the Aussie rolling it in on the first to clinch his second title this season.
The title is Day’s 12th on the PGA Tour as he heads to The Players Championship, which he won in 2016, next week.
