Daniels helps Pelicans to NBA win over Jokic's Nuggets

Australian young gun Dyson Daniels has helped the New Orleans Pelicans to a 115-110 in-season tournament win over two-time MVP Nikola Jokic and his NBA defending champion Denver Nuggets.

Last year's No.8 draft pick, starter Daniels, 20, scored 10 points and added eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals in his 33 minutes on court in Friday night's home match, which also counts toward the regular season standings.

Zion Williamson scored 26 points, centre Jonas Valanciuanas had 22 and Brandon Ingram added 21, while the Pelicans held on to prevail in a tight finish.

It was the Pelicans' (6-6) second straight in-season tournament win, improving their record to 2-1 and leaving Denver (9-3) with the same mark.

Jokic had 26 points, tied a career high with 18 assists and grabbed 16 rebounds for the Nuggets, who never led but got within one point late.

In Portland, 38-year-old LeBron James matched his season-high with 35 points as the Los Angeles Lakers handed the Portland Trail Blazers their sixth straight loss with a 107-95 victory.

Anthony Davis added 16 points and 14 rebounds, and the Lakers moved to 3-0 in the in-season tournament with the victory while Blazers fell to 1-2.

In Salt Lake City, Kevin Durant scored 38 points and hit a late clutch 3-pointer to help the Phoenix Suns defeat the Utah Jazz 131-128.

Devin Booker added 24 points and a career-high 15 assists for the Suns who  improved to 1-1 in the in-season tournament, while Utah fell to 2-1.

In Los Angeles, James Harden hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer while getting fouled with six seconds to play, sending the Clippers to their first victory since his arrival as they beat the Houston Rockets 106-100.

Harden had a season-high 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Kawhi Leonard scored 26 points for the Clippers, who had lost five straight since acquiring Harden.

The Clippers got their first victory in three tournament games, while the Rockets dropped to 1-1 in tournament play.

In Toronto, Derrick White made a tie-breaking 3-pointer with 26.8 seconds remaining as his Boston Celtics beat the Toronto Raptors 108-105.

Jaylen Brown scored 23 points and Kristaps Porzingis added 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Celtics improved to 2-0 in tournament play.

In Charlotte, Damian Lillard scored 27 points and Malik Beasley added 20 for the Milwaukee Bucks who remained unbeaten in the in-season tournament with a 130-99 win over the Hornets.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 16 points, nine assists and eight rebounds for the Bucks while LaMelo Ball scored 37 points for the Hornets.

Milwaukee's victory sets up a key showdown on November 28 against the Miami Heat, the only other undefeated team in East Group B.

In Atlanta, Joel Embiid had 32 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, leading Philadelphia to a 126-116 victory in their tournament game.

The Sixers improved to 2-1 in Group A play, with one game remaining. The Hawks dropped to 1-1.

In San Antonio, De'Aaron Fox scored a season-high 43 points as his Sacramento Kings downed the Spurs 129-120 and remained undefeated in the tournament.

In Washington, Jalen Brunson scored 32 points and Immanuel Quickley added 27 as the New York Knicks (1-1) eliminated the Wizards (0-3) from contention in the tournament with a 120-99 win.
