Daniel Jones ruled out against Dolphins with neck injury; Mike Glennon will start

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will not play in the team's Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins. Jones was not cleared for contact due to a neck injury and was ruled out for Sunday's game, head coach Joe Judge said Friday.

Jones sustained the injury during the team's Week 12 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Jones reportedly experienced the injury on the second play of the game, but remained in the contest. He finished 19-for-30, with 202 yards and one touchdown in the 13-7 win.

Jones was able to take part in limited practice Wednesday and Thursday. Despite that, doctors would not clear Jones for contact, making him unavailable to play Sunday.

Jones started every game for the Giants this season. He left a Week 5 game early due to a concussion and was replaced by Mike Glennon.

Jones has 10 touchdowns against seven interceptions in 11 games this season.

Mike Glennon to start for Giants in Week 13

With Jones sidelined, Glennon will get the start for the Giants in Week 13. In limited work in Week 5, Glennon completed 16 of 25 passes with one touchdown and two interceptions. The Giants lost that contest 44-20.

Sunday's contest will mark Glennon's first start since Week 17 last season. Glennon made five starts for the Jacksonville Jaguars down the stretch in 2020. He finished with seven touchdowns and five interceptions in those games, all losses.
