Billy the lurcher — a cross-breed, commonly the result of mating a greyhound with a terrier — had to be taken to the vet when he developed a rather dramatic limp.
But his owners never could have expected the diagnosis Billy received!
Now, just like the “lonely” golden retriever who was overjoyed to meet his new little sister on Christmas morning, Billy is touching hearts all around the world.

In the video, you can see Russell walking on crutches, one leg encased in a rather serious-looking cast.
Billy limps alongside Russell, hobbling at a similarly slow pace as his dad.
After noticing Billy’s painful-looking limp, Russell took the lurcher to the vet, where he paid “£300 in fees and X-rays,” as explained in the video’s caption.
However, the vet’s diagnosis left Russell in shock — and touched the hearts of millions around the world.
According to the vet, nothing at all was wrong with Billy. He was merely suffering from “sympathy.”

It seems the pup, seeing his dad’s “paw” was hurting, also started feeling pain.
Russell explained in the comments that he even took Billy back to the vet for a second time, just to make sure nothing was wrong — and again, the lurcher was only suffering from an overly empathetic heart.
“So funny! Unbelievable; aren’t they just so in tune with us? Bless him,” read one Facebook user’s comment on the video.
“That’s too funny. Can’t beat the love of your dog,” another user commented.
“Omg how sweet, haha. Hope your legs [are] better soon,” wrote another.
“He’s copying you. That’s brilliant! Though you have my sympathy for the vet’s bill,” laughed another user.
“Omg I’m sorry you had to pay £300, but I’ve never laughed so much in a long time, so thank you,” commented another user.
Billy’s sweet sympathy pain just proves that animals are capable of feeling much more than we give them credit for, and deserve all our love and protection!
