Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo: Country needs ‘desperate change’ after shooting at Florida high school

Anthony Rizzo has been out with a back injury.

The country was rocked by yet another mass shooting Wednesday, when officials say 17 people were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, a former student at the high school who in November donated $150,000 to his alma mater, called for a change after the nation's latest tragedy.

The Cubs said Thursday morning that Rizzo has departed spring training in Arizona to head back home and be with his community.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas, which has nearly 3,000 students enrolled, was attacked by a 19-year-old shooter who pulled a fire alarm to lure students out of classrooms.
