Australian spinner Xavier Doherty wants to see more aggression from his team-mates as they look to snap a three-match losing streak in T20 internationals.

The Aussies were outplayed by Sri Lanka in the first of their two-match T20 series in Sydney on Saturday, meaning they have lost three internationals in a row, following their defeats to Pakistan and West Indies in their final two matches of the ICC World T20 last October.

Australia have also been beaten by Sri Lanka in their last four T20 clashes, and Doherty - who claimed 2-21 at ANZ Stadium on Australia Day - wants to see more calculated risks from the side at the MCG on Monday.

"I think the record is four and zip the last four times we've played them, we want to turn that around," Doherty said.

"They were a fait bit better than us the other night so I think every player's got a bit to show tonight.

"I think we've got to take a few more risks. We were fairly conservative the other night, particularly with the bat.

"We've got to try and take it to them and put them under a bit more pressure I think."

Doherty said he has not had any discussions with Australia coach Mickey Arthur or chairman of selectors John Inverarity about his possible selection for the Test touring party to India, claiming such a talk would only distract him from the business of performing at his very best.

"It's well reported that their looking for spinners to take, so all I can do is bowl as well as I can," he said.

"It's a great place to play as a spin bowler and it produces some really good Test cricket I think. If I get my chance over there, hopefully I get a little bit more assistance than I get back here in Australia."
