Selection chairman Andrew Hilditch has absolved himself of blame for Australia's crushing Ashes series defeat and warns even tougher challenges lie ahead for the Test team.

In the aftermath of an unprecedented third loss by an innings for the series, Hilditch said he and his fellow selectors Greg Chappell, David Boon and Jamie Cox had done "a very good job" in choosing the teams for the five matches.

Tim Nielsen and James Sutherland gave similar statements of " It's not our fault, we shouldn't be sacked but we don't know what to do". Typical, selfish, gutless men who care more about their career than the good of australian cricket. At least the players can admit their bad performances unlike these 3 and alike.

Sutherland was interviewed at close of play after Ponting\s dummy spit. He said the matter was between the ICC and RP.
That's bollox. Ponting is an employee of CA and therefre they should ensure his conduct on the field is appropriate. If not, then disciplinary action should have been taken.

mip you were on the money-it,s funny how the economy effects a teams performance.when brittians economy was going gang busters their team was lazy ,soft and losing but now they have become harder and more disciplined.the reverse is true of the aussie team
I didn,t rate england and paid the price, adversity breeds character
. we all dream of being comfortable well off maybe a big win on the lottery but it has a cost if these things happen and the so called persuit of happiness is lost
test cricket is a test of character well done england!

Ring Ring.....
"Hello - Australian team dressing room"
"Hello mate...Can I speak to Ricky Ponting please?"
"Sorry mate - he's just gone out to bat..."
"That's OK - I'll hold...."

The Australian bobsleigh team have asked the Aussie cricket team for a meeting.

They want to ask their advice about going downhill so fast!

What’s the difference between Ricky Ponting and a funeral director?

A funeral director doesn’t keep losing the ashes.

hahahahaha
England cricket never will go downhill like this , because they  will never reach the top

Poms gloating because they have reached the lofty heights of ICC number 3 test nation .
Now Mip, please enlighten us.  ICC test rankings began in 1996. How many weeks have England been number 1
Clue: Stuart Broads run aggregate in the recent Ashes series

Shut up chucker, I love stale recycled jokes posted in a ridiculous font.

Anyway, as wp will tell you, it's the CB series that really counts.  Or is it the VB series?  The CBA series?  The CA series?  Whatever it's called.

Sorry about the font chaps I cut and pasted them from a very boring email I got from a bloke in England.

As for Number 1 status ---- Dunno.

I know that Engalnd are the T20 world champs. As for ODI's I couldn't care less. Total bollox if you ask me. 2 T20 games yet 7 ODI's totally rip off money spinners. But as its England I have to watch.

If Engalnd win the ODI world cup I will be delighted for the success but the quicker this form the of the game dies the better !!!!!

I think the Sri Lankans are going to win this world cup because of the low bounce , slower pitches
Aussies tend to do well in the one day format on the subcontinent, but a lot will depend on Ponting and Clarke's form ( unfortunately).  Hopefully, the absence of a slips cordon and lower bounce will help them.

We own the world cup, we will retain what is rightfully ours.
